Update to Door County’s policy regarding safely opening

Dear Baileys Grove Campers:

Wisconsin and Door County’s response continues to be fluid and numerous changes have happened since our previous update. Most notably the state Supreme Court threw out the statewide safer-at-home order leaving counties on their own to decide how best to proceed. Consistent with this, Door County issued an order yesterday that gave businesses the green light to open as of May 20th. Please visit Door County Public Health for complete details. While we are excited for life to return to normal as possible, we had a plan in place to deal with previous requirements through May 25th and we are going to continue with that plan. The details are as follows:

We will be open for self-contained (bathroom & shower inside camper) camping units only at this time. If you or anyone in your household is sick or has been exposed to COVID-19, please reschedule your camping trip to Door County.

Please know that we will be strictly enforcing the expectations stated below. We will have a zero tolerance for non-compliance as we want to keep our family, staff and campers safe.

What is expected of our guests until May 26th?

  1. We will provide curbside check-in. You can either call us on your way up at 920-839-2559 or stay in your vehicle when you get to the campground and we will come to your vehicle to finalize registration.
  2. Follow social distancing requirements of at least 6 feet between anyone outside your household group.
  3. Only one family household may occupy a site, with a maximum limit of 8 people.
  4. Visitors will not be allowed per the Safer-at-Home order through May 26th.
  5. Gatherings of any number of people are prohibited.
  6. Office will be open for sales of firewood & ice. Only four customers allowed in the office at one time. Credit card sales only during this time. We will offer delivery to site.

What is temporarily CLOSED until May 26th?

  1. Bathrooms and Porta Potties
  2. Pool
  3. Rec Building and Group Meeting Space
  4. Fitness Room, Game Room and Library
  5. Playground
  6. No free popcorn or coffee

On May 26th, we will begin to phase out some of the previous requirements and start to operate inside our new reality. It is important to remember that we still expect our campers to follow best practices to lessen the risk of exposure and to respect each other’s personal space. The specifics are as follows:

What will camping look like on May 26th and going forward?

  1. Tent camping will be allowed
  2. Bathrooms and Porta Potties will be open and disinfected more frequently.
  3. The pool will be opening on June 19th at 50% of its normal capacity load. Social distancing is a must while on the pool deck. Please plan on spending less time at the pool so more people can enjoy it.
  4. Groups of not more than 16 people can congregate on a site while making sure to maintain 6 feet between anyone outside of your household group.
  5. Normal rules to visitors apply
  6. The office will be open but limited to only six people at any one time. There will not be free coffee in the morning or free popcorn in the evening.
  7. Playground, basketball court, fish cleaning station, game room, and rec building will be open.
  8. The fitness center and group meeting space will be closed.

Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time! We will do our best to keep you updated on any changes.
